000 Spruce-Oak | 2023
I consider this one of my most successful guitars to date. The combination of the torrefied sitka spruce and the double X bracing gave the guitar a lovely loud, open sound. The color of the torrefied spruce matched the browns of the walnut beautifully. And the sparkle of the tiny diamond mother of pearl pieces in the rosette gave the whole guitar a subtle beauty that I search for. It was also the first time I’d used American holly for the top binding as part of my search to find a functional and aesthetic alternative to ivory (the old baddie) and ivoroid (the modern baddie). I think it looks great and will certainly protect the guitar well.
This guitar went to an oldtime and Irish player in the United States.
